Details for "Cancelled - Gil Shaham Plus Mozart"

At the urging of City of Houston officials, the Houston Symphony concerts that had been rescheduled to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21 have been cancelled.

The concerts had originally been changed to two afternoon matinee performances in observance of the
citywide curfew and in coordination with City officials. However, with law enforcement and other  emergency resources still totally committed to recovery efforts, the City made it clear that holding a public  event in the downtown area could create a difficult public safety issue.

“We regret being unable to perform,” said Matthew VanBesien, Symphony Executive Director/CEO.
“We had hoped to offer Houstonians some relief from the stress caused by the on-going recovery from Hurricane  Ike, but responding to the Police Department’s concern about the public safety is obviously of paramount importance.”

The Symphony will ensure that all ticket holders retain the value of their tickets. The Symphony Customer
Service Center is open Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or can be contacted by telephone at (713) 224-7575 or at www.houstonsymphony.org.
